Can women wear suit and feel as powerful as men?

Power dressing began in the 1970s, when women began to think about their careers, as opposed to being domestic. Apparently, the clothes that we wear makes humans see the world in contrasting ways. This is a fact as when am going to university, I want to be taken seriously and deemed smart, so I wear conservative clothes that do not emphasise my body features. Wearing conservative clothes does not prove how clever a person is. A person can dress smartly but will not communicate that in the way they speak and the morals they have. This may vary in different races, backgrounds and most importantly experiences. Do not judge a book by its cover!

Power dressing in women is a way of indicating that they are as powerful as men, in the mind set. This makes men fear women as they would think their knowledge exceeds their own. As a result, men's mannerism toward women dressed in suit changes into positive and shows more respect and will be treated fairly.

This is to prevent the idea of women being sexual objects in the workplace, so dress in dull colours such as grey, navy and black to blend in with men, hiding their femininity. The tailored suits are made in a way to compress features, and flatter insecurities of body and be more masculine. Although the shoulder pads are not as obvious in the 21th century suit, it is still used to give emphasis of broad shoulders.

The idea of being in uniform in this case suit, goes back an institutional rules were everyone dressed the same think the same, and behave in professional mannerism that does not reflect personal life. In a corporate world everyone is forced to hide personal opinions and think academically and strategically. So when women dress in suit, they become less emotional and think rationally and in some case, think like men.

Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso is a Spanish painter, sculptor and printmaker, who was born in Malaga, Spain on the 25 th  of October 1881, and unfortunately died in April 8th 1973. He collaborated with Georges Braque, to establish the art movement of cubism, which began in 1907, after the construction of the following artwork of, “Les Demoiselles d ’Avignon” which was initially produced to promote the cubist movement.
